Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy applies to two types of users of the Bite by AekBharat platform:
- Customers — individuals who browse restaurants, place food orders, and make payments through the Bite app or website
- Restaurant Partners — restaurant owners, managers, and staff who use the Bite dashboard to manage orders, menus, staff, and billing
Both categories of users are protected equally under this policy. Where our practices differ, we have clearly noted which applies to whom.
Information We Collect
From Customers:
- Name, phone number, and email address used during account registration
- Delivery address and location data to find nearby restaurants
- Order history, food preferences, and saved addresses
- Payment mode used (UPI, card, cash) — we never store card numbers or UPI PINs
- Device type, app version, and usage logs for performance improvement
From Restaurant Partners:
- Restaurant name, address, GSTIN, FSSAI licence number, and contact details
- Owner and staff names, email addresses, and phone numbers
- Menu items, pricing, photos, and category configuration you upload
- Order data, billing records, daily settlement, and revenue reports
- Bank account details for settlement payouts (stored securely, never shared)
How We Use Your Information
For Customers, your data is used to:
- Show you restaurants near your location and process your orders
- Send real-time order status notifications (confirmed, preparing, out for delivery)
- Process payments and issue digital receipts
- Improve recommendations and personalise your experience
- Resolve disputes and provide customer support
For Restaurant Partners, your data is used to:
- Display your restaurant and menu to customers in your area
- Route customer orders to your kitchen display and dashboard
- Generate GST-compliant invoices and daily settlement reports
- Send operational alerts (new orders, low stock, settlement summaries)
- Process payout transfers for completed orders
We do not sell your data to any third party. Period.
Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances, and only what is strictly necessary:
- Between customers and restaurants: When you place an order, your name, phone number, and delivery address are shared with the restaurant fulfilling that order — and only that order
- Delivery partners: Your delivery address and contact number are shared with the assigned delivery person to complete your order
- Payment processors: Certified RBI-compliant payment gateways process transactions — they never receive your full financial profile
- Cloud infrastructure: AWS-hosted servers store your data in India with strict access controls
- Legal requirements: If required by Indian law, FSSAI regulations, court order, or government authority
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security practices to protect both customer and restaurant partner data:
- All data encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3
- Data at rest encrypted using AES-256
- Automatic daily backups retained for 90 days
- Role-based access controls — restaurant staff only see what their role permits
- Customer payment details are never stored on Bite servers
- Regular security audits and penetration testing by third-party firms
Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection laws, both customers and restaurant partners have the right to:
- Access all personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your profile
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
- Export your data — customers can download order history; restaurant partners can export menus, invoices, and reports
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses such as marketing communications
- Raise a complaint with the relevant data protection authority
